Jonathan Crinion AOCA, MSc Holistic Science, RCA, Ecologist
Jonathan Crinion plays a pivotal role in project identification and development by acting as facilitator and catalyst. His international experience and training as an Industrial Designer specialising in systems, organisational analysis and design, and as an Ecologist with a longstanding focus on environmental issues, places him in a unique position to formulate innovative and creative solutions to complex socio-environmental organisational issues. His ability to synthesise complex networks of information through creative and applied methodologies into focused solutions makes him a key component of research, planning and design projects. Crinion is the originator of the ‘Creativity – A Social Ecological Approach‘ web site.
Crinion holds an Msc from Schumacher College in Holistic Science, with Distinction and is an Associate to the Ontario College of Art and Design in Product and Systems Design. He was an Associate at Kuypers, Adamson, Norton Ltd. and went on to open their Vancouver Office. In 1988, while on sabbatical he was an Associate with Architects, Norman Foster and Partners in London. In 1986 he formed Crinion Associates and successfully grew the company to complete award winning research, planning and design projects globally. He has designed, developed and managed multi million pound projects for clients such Knoll International and Tecno among may others. Crinion Associates has designed, developed and patented many products and systems including two vertical axis wind turbines and the ‘Open Table’ concept, which revolutionised the office work environment. Crinion is the recipient of two Financial Post Design Effectiveness Awards, FX Award, D&AD Yellow Pencil Award among many other Gold and Silver awards for design. He lectures frequently and his work has been exhibited numerous times including at the ICID World Conference. His work has been published widely and he has written numerous articles. He is a life member of the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts and a past member of the Chartered Society of Designers in the UK. In 2006 he became a consultant to Crinion Associates and in collaboration with Naval Architects, Owen Clark Design – they designed, developed and built a Class 40 ocean racing yacht. The yacht was launched with ‘Friends of the Earth’ as the title partner. Crinion developed a program to highlight the autonomous and energy efficient nature of the yacht and raise awareness for Friends of the Earth’s ‘The Big Ask’- campaign about CO2 reduction.

Yvan Rytz BA Human Geography, MSc Holistic Science.
Yvan Rytz is the author of the article entitled Autopoiesis, Morphic Resonance and Emergent Properties: Perspectives for the climate change. Yvan lives in Nyon a small town close to Geneva, in Switzerland. His back ground is in human geography and environmental sciences. In 2002 he was elected at the regional parliament of Lausanne with the Green Party. Yvan’s interests lie in evolving a more embodied ecology and the relations between cognition, Buddhism and ecology as a whole. In 2009 Yvan began teaching at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland.
